Rubbermaid, leader in home and kitchen storage, has brought us yet another way to get more organized this spring.
One of the fastest growing trends is recycling. Families everywhere are putting more effort into reusing and recycling their kitchen and household items. In many states, such as Massachusetts, recycling is now mandatory as well. Unfortunately, as much as a family may want to do their part for the planet, it can be a hassle. Oversized boxes, numerous bins, piles of plastics and cans on the counter waiting to be taken to the curb for collection etc. all can add to the clutter you may be trying desperately to keep out of your home. Thanks to the ingenuity of Rubbermaid – now you can have a place for your recycling without sacrificing your decor or space.
The 2-in-1 Recycler two-unit bin allows you to choose how you’d like to sort your waste and recyclables. The top unit is perfect for collecting recyclables and has a fold away handle that makes it easy to take out and empty into your recycling bin. The lower bin tilts out for easy access, and holds an 8 gallon trash bag in place with the Liner Lock™ system. That means you can use one bin for plastics, metals and glass while the other can be used for paper – or – you can use the bottom bin for garbage while you stash your recyclables in the top area.
The Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler Features:
- Keeps recyclables off the counter by giving them a place to live in your kitchen
- The bottom tilt out bin holds a standard 8-gallon trash bag AND features LinerLock™ bag management, so your bag stays put and does not slip
- Both the top bin and bottom bin have convenient handles when needed to transport recyclables to where ever your recycling is stored for pick-up or transport
- The 2-in-1 Recycler fits more recyclables while using 25% less floor space compared to typical divided containers
- Made with recyclable materials and is recyclable
5.8 gal top flip open bin and 7.4 gal tilt out bottom bin. Total capacity = 13.2 gal.

We received the 2-in-1 Recycler for review and decided to use ours for recycling products only. Our wastebin is already out of sight in a great spot, so this Recycler was great for sorting our plastics/glass/tin from our paper and cardboard.
I was surprised at how much capacity this bin had while still not taking up so much space that it got in the way. It fit perfectly right next to our kitchen sideboard and held over a week’s worth of recycling at one time. The foot tilt edge at the bottom made it very simple to deposit items while my hands were full as well.
The only down side for my home is that, in our area, the recycling service will throw away whatever bin you use to place your items at the roadside. So we still have to transfer our recyclables to a large cardboard box before putting them out for collection. That being said, it’s still no problem (bloggers always have cardboard boxes laying around!) and it’s definitely easier to do it once per week on the day of collection rather than have several boxes sitting in the hallway waiting for that day.
