Approximately two weeks ago Little Man started feeling grumpy. Normally he’s a very happy child so when he begins to complain and whine it can only mean one thing: he’s about to get sick. He goes from being perfectly happy playing and running around to griping about everything and demanding myself or his dad sits with him all day. I can understand why: the close contact with a warm body makes him feel better. But, as much as you enjoy comforting your child, sometimes you need to get up and do things.
For over a week the fever made him miserable. He continued to eat well, drink plenty of fluids and all that jazz – so we didn’t rush off to the doctor. We kept him on a regular cycle of children’s fever reducer, electrolyte drink and made sure he got plenty of rest. You know – the usual routine when your little one is feverish and under the weather. But, this time we had something new. Something awesome. Something that allowed us to actually get a little work done while he still got the warm snuggle time he wanted.
The Aroma Home Hot Hug Tiger
Not only does the Hot Hugs line from Aroma Home give your child a new best friend, but they help the ‘get better’ process. Each Hot Hug friend has a secret pocket in their tummy that holds a heating pad. The bag is a wheat filed inner cushion that you place in the microwave for one minute and then slip it back into the Hot Hug animal to give your toddler soothing, lavender scented warmth with every hug.
I really like how hidden the pocket is. It took me a minute to figure out how to open it the first time – so I know my toddler won’t accidentally open the tummy while he snuggles. Another feature is renewing the lavender scent after time – you can easily place a few drops of essential oil directly onto the bag and let dry.
Little Man named his tiger “Mike” after the Louisiana State Mascot tiger (and his grandpa Mike) – and he was a great help dealing with the yucky, shivery fever. Now Little Man is much better, but he still carries Mike around with him while he plays. He loves to snuggle with him because he’s just so soft.
While I do like the fact that Hot Hugs use natural, biodegradable materials for their warming pads, I want to remind my readers that it is filled with wheat. If your child has a wheat allergy you would not want to use this product.

What a great idea. I can see how comfy it would be if the little one was sick.
What a cute idea! I love that that the bag is microwaveable so that it doesn’t have to be plugged in.
