SENSA 6 Month Weight Loss Challenge {Part 1: Getting Started}

sensa 6 month weight loss challengeI’m 36 years old. I had a child two years ago. I sit at a desk all day. I like to snack. A lot. Let’s just say weight loss doesn’t come easily to me.

I can remember the years where I could eat anything I wanted, as much as I wanted and still retain my shape without ever doing a moment of exercise. Ah, those were the days. Unfortunately, my body decided it was tired of doing all the work itself once I turned 30. After having my second child at 34 my body really took a vacation. I went from 145 pounds to almost 200 pounds in just nine months of pregnancy. Over the past two years I’ve worked on eating better and controlling my portions. Too bad my intentions were not as strong as my actions. I did get down to 168 pounds. Not bad, but the effectiveness of different fad diets and supplements stopped there. My body went into a complete freeze at that weight. When I do exercise my body stays the same size – only firmer. I don’t want to stay a size 14 so hitting the gym at this weight is not an option. So, what could I do?

Now I found a new way to attack my problems with eating. SENSA is a dietary aid that doesn’t require you to change your eating habits or menu. It simply changes the way your brain, and as a result your stomach, reports on how satisfied you are after eating. When you feel satisfied faster, you stop eating sooner. But how is that possible?

SENSA® was designed to work with your sense of smell to help trigger Sensory Specific Satiety.

The scientific principle behind SENSA® is remarkably simple. As you eat smell and taste receptors send messages to your brain which release hormones that tell your body it’s time to stop eating. This is a phenomenon we call Sensory Specific Satiety. By enhancing smell, SENSA® Tastants were designed to help speed up the process and trigger your “I feel full” signal, so you eat less and feel more satisfied. Because SENSA® works with your body’s natural impulses, rather than against them, there are no feelings of hunger or intense cravings.

No stimulants. No counting calories. No fat blockers. No hunger. No drugs.

SENSA NO MORE DRUGS

When something sounds too good to be true there’s only one thing to do: Try it for myself. I’d read other Sensa Reviews, but that wasn’t enough for me; every person is different. So I contacted the team at SENSA and offered my robust self to try out the plan and see, first hand, what results could be had. I knew I wanted to lose more than just 5 or 10 pounds.  So, thanks to the helpful assistance of the Sensa crew, I’m now I’m launching my 6 Month Weight Loss Challenge with the Sensa diet.

My Peronal Challenge: Lose 30 pounds by June 2012. (Goal weight of 138 pounds)

So how does Sensa work?

As complex as the technical jargon may sound, the process itself is easy as…pie. The main Sensa system is composed of one tool: SENSA® Tastants crystals. Simply sprinkle a good helping of the flavorless crystals on everything you eat – all day – every day. Each kit comes with a set of two Tastant shakers: one for home, and one for on the go. Each shaker has a ‘salty’ side and a ‘sweet’ side. Neither batch has any flavor – so don’t worry that it will change how your food tastes. It simply means that one side works best with salty foods – the other with sweet foods. There is also no grainy feel when you eat it – it simply melts into your food and in your mouth; like salt or sugar would. The only foods you can not use Sensa on are liquids such as soup and drinks. You also should not cook with Sensa.

Each month you switch to a new batch of Tastants shakers – no matter if the old one is empty or not. Why? Because, as any dieter knows, your body adapts to new methods of hunger control. That’s why most people plateau at one weight. Each different month of Tastants shakers is formulated differently so you’re constantly changing things up and your body won’t adapt. Continuous effectiveness = continuous weight loss.

That’s it. Yes, really. The Tastants trigger the part of your brain that lets your stomach know when you are satisfied so that you basically ‘trick’ your stomach into thinking it’s full faster and put away those extra helpings for later. You don’t adjust your normal eating pattern at all. Simply eat as you usually would and allow the Sensa time to work. Not all Sensa dieters will notice a difference right away; it may take a few days to notice you are eating less. I noticed I was pushing away my food with some still left on the plate after the third day. Even my traditional nightly bowl of Doritos (oh yum yum) was left half full each time. That, alone, amazed me.

There are two other dietary tools you can include to increase your weight loss efforts:

Sensa Quench drinks and Sensa Appetite Control Chews.

sensa drinks and chews

Both Sensa Quench drink packets and the fruit chews are designed to help you get through those times of the day where you want to snack and snack some more. Between meals, instead of grabbing the chips or a slice of last night’s cake, mix a glass of Pink Grapefruit Quench or unwrap a fruit flavored chew.

The Quench drink pack boosts energy and provides the vitamins and antioxidants your body needs to support a healthy metabolism at only 15 calories per serving. I normally drink another big brand sugar free beverage and detest ‘diet supplement drinks’. But I was really surprised with the appealing flavor of Quench. When you mix it I do recommend using a shaker to make sure all of the packet is dissolved and you will notice white crystals that remain. Don’t be alarmed! Those are supposed to be there. It’s all part of the rich nutrients that come in each packet. You won’t even know you’re drinking them.

The Appetite Control Chews are an all-natural blend of antioxidants and fiber that help you feel full between meals. The chews are also 15 calories and sugar-free. This was the part of my challenge that I was least excited about. I just couldn’t shake the feeling that they were going to taste like medicine. Again, color me surprised; they are quite good and remind me of a less sweet Starburst fruit chew! I highly recommend the Berry Burst.

I have to let you know – be prepared for some great results. I lost weight just in my first 5 days.

  1. I am just finishing my 3rd month on Sensa. Alot has happened during this time so I have occasionally binged on sweets (my daughter died and I’m depressed). Anyhow I topped at 255. Now I rotate between 235 to 242. Up and down I go. My husband tries to help me by discouraging me to buy cookies (which I love). I’m 75 yrs old and don’t exercise – just getting around the house is exercise. When I take our little dog for a walk I come home exhausted – and my breathing is labored. My husband is afraid I’ll die of obesity but I’ve been overweight since I was 13. I am on medicine for depression and migraines so that does not help me lose either. I do find I perspire an awful lot and wondered if Sensa causes that.

  2. I can’t wait to read about your progress. I LOVE Sensa and have lost 63 pounds and they have stayed off!

  3. Michelle R. says:

I am excited to see your progress on this plan as well. I am always skeptical about diet plans, but I am not motivated enough to devote myself 100% to dieting/exercising. I always want to know how others do it, but do not want to ask.

  4. I have been wanting to try this stuff! You are right – it SOUNDS too good to be true. I am excited to see how your progress goes over 6 months. Oh, and we have the same goal – actually within 3 pounds LOL

    • I’ll be sure to keep you updated, Lynsey. I do like the results so far and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it isn’t the usual ‘first 5 pounds are easy’ phase with diets. Those last 30 pounds are a killer – but I know we can do it!

  5. Go you! Good luck, and I can't wait to hear your progress throughout. :)
